The South African music industry took time to reward those artists who spend countless hours perfecting their craft in order to bring us the music we all know and love. And what a night it was at the Sun City Superbowl. From the live performances, staging and lighting to exclusive backstage interviews, Amstel Lager helped make this years XXI Annual South African Music Awards an unforgettable experience – not only for those at the event but also those watching at home.

Local group Beatenberg proved they are a music force to be reckoned with as they took home six awards. Joining Amstel in the Green Room with the coveted SAMAs in hand, they expressed their love for South African music and humble gratitude for their multitude of awards.

Mdu Masilela, Mandla "Spikiri" Mofokeng and posthumously Zim Ngqawana were presented with Lifetime Achievement Awards. Their contribution to South African music is undeniable and Amstel was proud to sponsor an award that rewarded this true South African legend for taking the time to do it right.

But the winners weren’t the only ones celebrating. Four lucky Amstel fans and their friends experienced the XXI Annual South African Music Awards in true VIP style after winning an all-expenses paid trip to the awards including flights, accommodation and VIP tickets to the ceremony, as well as tickets to the the exclusive Amstel Official after party. Lucky winner Candice Muller got to spend some time with her music hero, Bucie, at the after party and had this to stay about the experience: "Never in my whole life did I think I would be able to rub shoulders with such music legends. Thank you Amstel for making one of my biggest dreams come true. I really enjoyed it all and had the best of times."

Being part of the biggest music event of the year has further cemented Amstel’s role as a true supporter of SA music and the artists who put in the time to make it great.
