The one-of-a-kind music platform turns the restaurant’s regular tables into interactive audio tables that will get everyone moving to the beat. The tables boast illustrations by local artists to create digital touch tables where customers can touch table graphics to play the various sound tracks.

But wait there’s more … everyone will be able to listen to local sounds by placing their elbows on the table’s surface, giving them an immersive musical experience without disturbing anyone else in store. This game-changing technology is called Bone Technology.

In partnership with KFC, Gloo@Ogilvy – the digital division of creative communications agency, Ogilvy & Mather – developed this first of its kind concept: “KFC has been a fantastic partner, allowing us to experiment with bold new thinking and the KFC SoundBite table is a brilliant example of how we can use technology in new innovative ways to create excitement around the brand,” said Ben Evans, national managing director, Digital Portfolio, Ogilvy & Mather South Africa.

The KFC SoundBite launch is in partnership with young musical talent, such as 2Lee Stark, Ginger Breadman, Lebo Lukewarm and Priddy Ugly.

How are these young talented artists involved you ask? Through the sound waves, the selected artists will be sharing some of their great beats using the KFC soundbite technology. Customers will be able to find out more about their favourite artists by simply placing their smartphones on the table as well.

Every detail of the store has been thought through as the restaurant décor is reflective of the youth market as well as the cutting edge digital elements that provide an overall great tasting experience, continuing to highlight KFC’s presence as the one of coolest fast food brands.

To add to the comfort, booth type seating is fitted with directional sound speakers to give customers the ability to customise their music experience. Customers will be able to choose from a vast selection of DMX music content via their cell phones, allowing for a more personal and comfortable space to enjoy their meal. Convenience is also high on the list, with USB charging stations situated around the store allowing customers to easily charge their devices while they enjoy the great tasting meals, they know and love.
