SABC1 Live Talent Search produces top four finalists

Published: 23 April 2012

The SABC1’s Live Talent Search has reached a critical milestone with the announcement of the top four finalists by the panel of judges. Viewers will get to see them in action from Friday, 20 April on the Live show.

The national search for this presenting position kick-started in February and received positive response from the youth of Mzansi, who came in their thousands to the announced venues in the regions. The biggest crowd was recorded in Joburg, with well over 3 000 hopefuls congregating at the famed Bassline in Newtown.

The judging panel, made up of representatives from the SABC and the production house, announced the top 14 the previous week. Now the auditions process has produced the top four finalists, who will get the opportunity to co-host the show with Bonang in the final leg to the auditions process.

The finalists are:

1. Nomuzi Mabena (Gauteng):

20-year-old Mabena, known as 'Moo-zlie', is a confident, ambitious and determined young woman who is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in communication and English. Her hard-working attitude and talent often command the attention of those she interacts with. She has a special love for media and arts.

2. Marv Mavrik/Mpumelelo Mavi (Gauteng):

23-year-old Mavi, who describes himself as "positivity personified", is currently a TV presenter on a community channel and is also in training to be a radio presenter on Voice of Wits campus radio. He is determined to be the best in the media industry (TV, radio and entertainment). He loves being around people and enjoys listening to music across all genres.

3. Wade Delagey (KwaZulu-Natal):

23-year-old Delagey is not your typical white guy, as he is fluent in isiZulu and has a keen interest in Mzansi cultures. He has a background in radio, having worked in youth radio as a presenter. He also featured on the SABC1 comedy series, Abo Mzala, as the character Jason. He is very creative and willing to learn. He loves to entertain people. He is currently employed by the Mr Price Group.

4. Luthando Shosha (Port Elizabeth):

23-year-old Shosha studied interior design and started working as a show host on Kingfisher FM in 2011. She later joined Bay TV as a presenter. She loves adventure and spending quality time with loved ones and lives by this quote: “The whole world steps aside for a person who knows where they are going.”

At this stage, the public will be roped into the judging process when the voting lines are opened on Friday, 20 April for them to express their preferences. Viewers are also encouraged to SMS their votes using the SMS line (39060) - the top four’s voting codes are:

- Luthando
- Wade
- Nomuzi
- Marv

The voting process will close at midnight on Wednesday, 25 April, and this stage of the process will produce the top two finalists.

The top two will go through to the next round of eliminations where each finalist will get a chance to present an entire show with Bonang (27 April and 4 May). At the end of their shows, the finalists will ask viewers to vote for them.

The ultimate winner will be revealed on the show on 11 May.
