Third Just Nje Comedy Night scheduled for 25 May

Published: 18 May 2012

The Joburg Promusica Theatre has announced that its third Just Nje Comedy Night will take place at the Basement Theatre on Friday, 25 May at 20:00 (doors open at 19:30). Following the Freedom Day Just Nje Comedy Night, which honoured the queens of South African comedy, Kedibone Mulaudzi will host a bunch of energetic and invigorating stand-up comedians.

Opening the third session will be Pravesh Nungaldave, who was born and bred in Pietermaritzburg, ate bunny chows in Durban and made people laugh in Joburg. The second act will be Maanda Mungulwa, bringing the audience laughter all the way from Venda, followed by Capetonian Deen Schroeder.

The May headliner is Chris Mapane, who hails from the Free State and is known for inducing laughter on any topic within three minutes.

To ensure comedy longevity at Joburg Promusica Theatre, the search is on for aspiring comedians in and around the West Rand who are interested in attending stand-up comedy classes and workshops and eventually be part of the Just Nje Comedy Nights. Workshops will take place in Cartonville, Mohlakeng, Kagiso, Elandsdrift, Krugersdorp, Randfontein and Roodepoort throughout the year. For information, call Nandipha on 072 189 0263.

Tickets cost R40 at the door.
