Ms Cosmo brings the feminine touch to Channel O’s Bass-ment Mix

Published: 23 May 2012

Channel O’s original DJ mixed music video show Bass-ment is taking it to the next level as it introduces a fresh new resident: Ms Cosmo. She will join DJ video mix masters Andy X and Pierre Pressure on the wheels of steel, adding a feminine touch as well as a fine new take on hip-hop.

“I am so excited about being part of the Channel O family. Instead of looping one video to the next, I will be bringing the club experience to Channel O fans from the comfort of their homes,” says Noni Rwaxa, known to her followers as Ms Cosmo.

This Diepkloof native has been blazing the ones and twos since February 2010. “You buy a CD and end up liking two songs from an album so I used to make mixes and play them in my car. At gatherings my friends would ask me to bring them along and they suggested that since I had a good ear for music that maybe I should take if further and become a DJ,” says Rwaxa.

After taking lessons at Fuse Academy, it was not long before the gigs started rolling in. Rwaxa has played alongside industry heavyweights like DJs Fresh, Euphonik, Black Coffee, Dimplez, Vigilante, Naves and SPHEctacula, to mention a few.

It’s not all about the music though, as she is adamant that getting an education is still vital as much as the next gig. “I am currently studying towards my Honors Degree in Financial Management through the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA),” she says.

It's all going down in the Bass-ment, Mondays to Saturdays at 16:00 and 23:00.
