Coming up on Carte Blanche this Sunday ...

Published: 8 June 2012

On M-Net [101] and M-Net HD [170], this Sunday, 10 June at 19:00, you can find out more about Carte Blanche's involvement in the BHP Billiton Paediatric Centre of Excellence and a rabies alert.

CB20: BHP Billiton Paediatric Centre of Excellence
In a special broadcast coming to you from Durban this week, things have changed for goos at King Edward VIII Hospital. That’s thanks to BHP Billiton and the Carte Blanche 'making a difference' campaign, which have handed over a brand new hospital to the Department of Health, financed by the private sector. It began in 2008 as an idea to celebrate Carte Blanche’s 20th birthday and it became a campaign bigger than anyone ever imagined.

Rabies
A KwaZulu-Natal farmer is being treated with an experimental remedy for rabies in a desperate attempt to save his life. Graeme Anderson came into contact with a rabid dog last month and has been on the Milwaukee protocol, which involves putting the patient into a medically induced coma and administering anti-viral drugs. There is no cure for rabies. In the meantime, rural communities are fighting the epidemic. Carte Blanche reports on a rabies alert.
