CSI is back for a sixth season
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, the Emmy®-nominated number one scripted drama series on US television – and the original series in the world’s number one franchise – is a fast-paced drama about a team of forensic investigators trained to solve crimes by examining the evidence. They are on the case 24/7, scouring the scene, collecting the irrefutable evidence and finding the missing pieces that will solve the mystery. Gil Grissom (William Petersen), grave-shift supervisor, heads the team of investigators at the Crime Lab in Las Vegas. The team includes Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger), a hard- working single parent with a checkered past and a controversial father; Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan), a top analyst with insider knowledge of the gambling world; Nick Stokes (George Eads), a true-blue stand-up guy who empathizes with victims via his own experiences; Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), a dedicated and inquisitive investigator who has more than a professional interest in Grissom; and Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda), the wacky tech analyst turned field investigator. The CSI team members also work closely with Capt. Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle), the former chief, now assigned to Homicide, and Dr. Albert Robbins (Robert David Hall), the ever-professional medical examiner.

The CSIs sift through the murders, suicides, robberies and violent crimes that threaten the streets of Vegas, on and off the Strip, moving beyond the neon decadence to the seediest and deadliest corners of the infamous city in the desert. Under Grissom's watchful eye, the team uses both cutting-edge scientific methods and old-fashioned savvy to solve their crimes, driven to succeed by the pact they have made with the public they serve – "Let the evidence bring justice to the victims and closure to the survivors."

Season six will follow on the heels of perhaps the most emotional season our CSIs have seen yet. Grissom was unjustly penalized by Ecklie and had his team split. As a result Catherine found herself dayshift supervisor with Warrick and Nick on her team and all her days away from home and her daughter. Grissom’s graveyard shift kept Sara and Greg along with the addition of Sofia Curtis (Louise Lombard). Warrick may have harboured feelings for Catherine but found love with a girl he met outside of the lab. Sara confronted her issues with alcohol, realizing they began with deeply rooted feelings from her past. Greg finally made his move out of the lab permanent and passed his proficiency course. While Brass may have suffered the most heartbreak of all when he went to his daughter’s rescue in Los Angeles just to be met with disrespect and the disappointment of seeing how lost she had become in the temptations of the big city. The season culminated in a race against the clock when Nick Stokes was kidnapped and held ransom - buried alive. He may have been saved but what kind of lasting effects does an experience like that have on a man? And does new evidence suggest the man responsible wasn’t working alone? Season six will be true to form as the team is reunited. Las Vegas continues to be the ideal backdrop for the most morbid mysteries on television; beginning with disasters in a trailer park and a modern-day mistaken identity of a dead stripper. Grissom will begin to be re-engaged with his emotions and people. The near-loss of Nick and some of the most difficult cases to date will have lasting effects. Warrick will take a leap and Sofia Curtis will redefine her role in law enforcement.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will be broadcast at 22:10 on SABC3 on Mondays and Tuesdays, starting on 3 July.
