Published: 27 June 2012

The operatic-fusion quartet, Diversity has been invited to grace the stage at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pretoria on the Tuesday, 3 July.

The embassy is hosting an event for Chinese and South African officials on the day and its chosen theme is China and Africa: From Past to Present. Fitting to their name, Diversity were top of mind when the Embassy were tasked with choosing a group that engendered a fusion of cultures and of music to entertain attendees on the day.

Diversity fuses opera with hip-hop, kwaito, beat-boxing and a variety of other musical styles to create something entirely new and undeniably South African. “This fusion element is central to what we had in mind when we created the Diversity-project,” says Yudi Cohen, CEO of Glasscopy Productions. “Our main goal is to promote a positive South Africa and to unite its audiences of diverse cultures through music – the common language of humanity. As such – we are honoured to share in this day with dignitaries at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.”
