Graeme Watkins Project to headline Old Mutual Music in the Gardens series

Published: 3 July 2012

One of South Africa’s most exciting bands, Graeme Watkins Project, is set to take to the stage at the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens series at the Pretoria National Botanical Gardens on 15 July. The Graeme Watkins Project will be supported by 7th Son and Dance, You’re on Fire.

Graeme Watkins Project, also known as GWP, released their debut album Corridors of the Mind in 2011 to huge critical acclaim. The band is made up of Graeme Watkins (vocals), Rudo Pieterse (bass), Matthew Marinus (drums) and Ryno Zeelie (guitar). The SAMA-nominated band was recently scouted by multi-platinum producer Jeff Blue while performing at the Musexpo showcase in Los Angeles.

The band, best known for hits such as Music Affair and Bloodshot Eyes, recorded with Blue, whose success stories include Macy Gray and Linkin Park.

Says GWP: “We spent most of our time living and performing in busy cities and made environments so we are delighted to be able to perform in a living environment and a space that makes us reconnect with our lives.”

The Old Mutual Music in the Gardens series presents live concerts throughout the winter season at the Pretoria National Botanical Garden and is an extension of their sponsorship of the Kirstenbosch Music series in Cape Town.
