Published: 23 July 2012

Inspector George Gently, a two-part crime drama that focuses on the dark underbelly of a society on the cusp of change, is set to be broadcast on BBC Entertainment from Friday, 10 August at 20:05.

Part one sees Chief Inspector George Gently (Martin Shaw) and his sidekick Bacchus (Lee Ingleby) investigate the suspicious death of Gently’s friend and ex-snout, China. The coroner’s office tells Gently that China was a drunk and a vagrant and died after falling in a derelict building. However, the sly Chief Inspector has another take on events.

Part two sees Gently and Bacchus confronted by a new challenge when a body of a missing school girl is discovered in a shallow grave in the middle of a woods. The investigation sees the duo thrown into the new world of pop and media celebrity as they try to come to terms with the girl’s death but will they be out of the depth when things take a turn for the worst?

Inspector George Gently will be broadcast on Fridays at 20:05 on BBC Entertainment, channel 120 on DStv. The first episode is on 10 August.
