Emerging Sounds Challenge is at the halfway mark

The Emerging Sounds Challenge is at the halfway stage and the next leg takes place on Sunday, 29 July at Rumours, in Weltevredenpark.

The first band is on stage at 14:30 and there is a R30 cover charge In action are Working Class Hero, More Than Conquerors, Ilze du Plooy, Blame the Architects, and more. Each band plays seven songs and one band is guaranteed of going through to the semi finals taking place in October.

Apart from having the opportunity of winning an Alto Pro PA system courtesy of TOMS Sandton, the winning band this year gets to record with award-winning producer Darryl Torr at Openroom Studios in Greenside plus have a one-on-one session with music guru Dave Chislett author of One, Two, One, Two.

Bands also have the opportunity of earning monies from the gig as well as qualifying for a 50% discount on recording packages at Openroom Studios along with a 50% discount when attending one of the SYMSTAN workshops. The same applies for all acoustic guitarists taking part in the acoustic leg.

The event is open to all bands irrespective of musical style because bands are judged on their overall performance on the night by a panel of judges. There is no crowd voting.

TOMS Sandton is also supplying the backline comprising Marshall (Valve) electric guitar amps, Eden bass amp, Fishman Acoustic Guitar amp and a TAMA drum kit.
