Published: 16 August 2012

It is with great sadness that Penguin Books SA acknowledges the passing of highly acclaimed and much-loved South African author, Heidi Holland. Holland passed away at her Melville home on Saturday, 11 August.

Heidi Holland was the South African born daughter of a British father and a Swiss mother. A working journalist for over thirty years in Zimbabwe and South Africa, she was the London Sunday Times correspondent in Harare, and contributed to many publications, radio programmes and television documentaries all over the world. Holland was also a columnist and the author of several books, including the internationally acclaimed Dinner with Mugabe. Her latest book, 100 Years of Struggle: Mandela’s ANC, was published by Penguin in January. Other titles by her include African Magic, Colour of Murder and From Joburg to Jozi, a compilation of short stories that she co-edited.
