Bushakevitz, who recently graduated from the Juilliard School of Music in New York, will now be able to further her postgraduate studies overseas thanks to the R170 000 scholarship she won in the SAMRO-sponsored competition.
The talented young violinist can be seen in action with the JPO this Wednesday, 22 August and Thursday, 23 August, at the Linder Auditorium, and at the ZK Matthews Hall at UNISA at 15:00 on Sunday, 26 August.
Accompanied by the JPO and under the baton of resident guest conductor Bernhard Gueller, Bushakevitz will perform Saint-Saëns’s
Violin Concerto No.3, op.61, B minor. The programme also features Debussy’s
Petite Suite and Mendelssohn’s
Symphony No.4, op.90, A major (Italian).
The JPO’s Wednesday and Thursday night concerts take place at the Linder Auditorium, located at 27 St Andrew’s Road, Parktown, at 20:00.
