Series three of Dynamo: Magician Impossible to include episode filmed solely in SA

Published: 15 November 2012

Series three of Discovery Channel’s award-winning Dynamo: Magician Impossible is set to be the most thrilling yet, as Dynamo announced that it will include a special episode filmed solely on location in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Dynamo, who appeared at an exclusive Discovery Networks event in Johannesburg to promote his new series of Magician Impossible premiering on Discovery Channel, channel 121 on DStv at 20.30 on Wednesday, 21 November, delighted fans by confirming he is also here to film a special episode in South Africa this month.

The ‘South African special’ will broadcast on Discovery Channel in the second half of 2013 as the first episode in season three. The exact nature of the magic he has planned for the episode remained firmly up his hooded sleeves, but his stunts are sure to be one of the most extraordinary things that South Africa has ever seen and prove yet again why he is the World’s greatest street magician.

This will be the first time Dynamo has filmed in the country and means Cape Town and Johannesburg will now join the list of famous places such as Rio de Janeiro, Hollywood, Miami and London that have featured in his award-winning series so far.

“I can’t wait to start filming in South Africa for my third series,” said Dynamo. “I love travelling to different places to surprise people with my magic, so meeting all of my South African Dynamites is going to be amazing. I’ve only been here a few days but already I can see South Africa is an incredible country – I love the diversity here, I think Cape Town and Johannesburg will make a very special episode. I have a few things in store which I hope will get South Africa talking – watch this space."

Lee Hobbs, channel director for Discovery Networks CEEMEA’s Emerging Business region said, “We are incredibly excited to announce that Dynamo will be filming series 3 of Magician Impossible in Cape Town and Johannesburg. The series is one of the most successful shows we’ve ever aired on Discovery Channel in South Africa, and a special episode filmed in its two biggest cities is sure to be a big hit with our DStv viewers. We’ll be releasing more details nearer the broadcast of the show and fans should check out Discovery Networks on Facebook for more information.”

Dynamo has proved tremendously popular with DStv viewers. Series one of Magician Impossible reached an audience of over 1.8 million, to become the number one programme on Discovery Channel this year. The series follows the British magician as he travels the world performing jaw-dropping feats of magic and illusion to his ever-increasing army of fans – from impossible card tricks to spectacular gravity-defying stunts.

Tipped as the most exciting magician to emerge in decades, Dynamo grew up practising precision card-handling and developing powerful magical skills like his grandfather before him. Now with a list of celebrity fans that reads like a 'who's who' of the Hollywood elite, he has become one of the most famous magicians of our time.

Season two of Dynamo: Magician Impossible will be broadcast from Wednesday, 21 November at 20.30 on Discovery Channel, channel 121 on DStv.
