Competition is rife in the consumer publishing arena - as a result, judges of the ADvantage ADmag Awards faced a gruelling task in selecting which consumer publications stood out head and shoulders above the rest. After hours of assessing and reassessing, the finalists have been chosen. South Africa's leading advertising, media and marketing journal ADvantage, has announced the finalists of the 2006 ADvantage ADmag Awards. The finalists are: • Africa Birds & Birding • Africa Geographic • Business Day, Wanted • Car • de Kat • Drum • Eat In • Go! / Weg! • Golf Digest SA • Habitat • Heat • Move • National Geographic Kids • Popular Mechanics • Real Simple • SA Country Life • SA Gardening • SA Sports Illustrated • Sarie • Seventeen • Shape • Saltwater Girl • The Gardener • VISI • Woman & Home • Woolworths Taste • Your Pregnancy ADvantage Editor-in-Chief, John Farquhar says, "The concept of filter judging worked very well this year. There are an increasing number of titles each year and the filter process made it much easier to identify the finalists. I'd like to thank the participating judges for their expertise and time”. The panel of judges for filter process were: Gwen Bezuidenhout, Media Portfolio Director, FCB; Megan Chronis, Freelance Writer & Editor, Blue Ink Media, Jacques Breytenbach, Managing Director, Primedia Publishing and Johan Farquhar, Editor in Chief, ADvantage Magazine. Judges tasked to make final selections were: Sue Rooney, Pan African Media Director, Universal McCann; Trish Guilford, Associate Media Director, The MediaShop; Wilma de Bruin, Media & Marketing Journalist; Gordon Patterson, Managing Director, Starcom; Eve Pennington, Media Strategist, Hunt Lascaris and John Farquhar, Editor in Chief, ADvantage Magazine. Winners will be announced on the evening of Thursday, 29 March.
