The Wild Talk Africa Festival is inviting wildlife filmmakers to submit proposals for the open pitching sessions. The festival takes place at the Docklands Hotel & Conference Centre in Durban from Tuesday, 23 to Friday, 26 July, running concurrently with the Durban International Film Festival.

At a glitzy launch party held at Sandton’s Urban Tree on Wednesday, 11 October, Discovery Networks Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) revealed its channel highlights for 2012, and also celebrated the launch of its Investigation Discovery (ID) and TLC channels, which will begin broadcasting on Friday, 14 October. According to News24, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) has issued a nationwide shark warning. The reason being several sightings of sharks on the southern coast of the Western Cape. Animal Planet (DStv Channel 264) has also spotted sharks, because August is Shark Month.

Audio Matrix at The Refinery is still revelling in their victory at the Jackson Hole International Wildlife film festival, for work completed on the Animal Planet film, Swamp Troops. Their top position in the Best Sound category was a huge triumph for the local team, especially considering they were up against big-budget industry top dogs, BBC and Disney.
