World renowned storyteller and acclaimed oral historian, Gcina Mhlope, will share her magnificent stories and songs in Pinetown for one evening only.

An evening with Gcina Mhlope: 'Spirit of Growth' will be held in a supper theatre format at St John’s Church on 12 February from 19:00.

Mhlope is one of the city’s living treasures. She has been writing and performing for over 20 years and has written a myriad children’s books; poetry; short stories; and plays. She performed her own stories for television in Gcina and Friends. She has honorary doctorates from London Open University; UKZN; Fort Hare; and the University of Pretoria. Her work has contributed to preserving our heritage of storytelling as a means of keeping history alive, and has encouraged South African children to read.
