The Senegalese supergroup, Xalam, is back in South Africa for a once-off performance on Friday, 30 April with Paul Hanmer and McCoy Mrubata. Tickets are R100 and the show starts at 20:00 at Bassline in Newtown.

World-renowned super-group, Xalam, living legends of Afro-funk are back. The African band that headlined Woodstock (25th anniversary, to 500 000 people); recorded with Rolling Stones; opened for Crosby, Stills and Nash; wrote and performed a Walt Disney film score; jammed with Dizzy Gillespie Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon; – and had Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masekela as their vocalist and soloist on the their first African tour.
