The good news keeps rolling in for the ABF – Cinemark is the latest industry partner to support the ABF Vital Support Fund by securing a sponsorship deal to the value of R50 000.

Lynne Wylie of Cinemark confirms that an airtime package to the value of R50 000 will be auctioned at the ABF President’s Cup golf day held at the Killarney Golf Club. “Cinemark is and has been a valued supporter of the ABF throughout the years. With a tough economic environment still continuing for many, Cinemark realise the value of supporting non-profit organisations like the ABF,” says Sharlene Vallance, Vice President.

An auction item like this provides the ABF with a healthy cash flow, so that it can continue to provide monthly dividends to the people who need it most. “We would like to voice our appreciation to Cinemark for this donation,” she says. “The ABF Validation Committee has received four new cases in the last few months alone, and although we hope that this is only temporary relief that is provided, we are never quite sure when the recipient will be able to stand on their own two feet again.”

The ABF gains charitable donations through its core membership base and a few fund raising events throughout the year. Another chief source of income is through media packages provided by media owners like Cinemark to the ABF. These packages are either auctioned at a fundraiser or sold on to the highest industry bidder.

“This is just one way providing instant relief to many of our validation requests,” says Vallance. “We have directly seen the benefits of ABF donations over the years, and as a result, have formed many solid relationships with our valued media owner partners.”
