The directors of this production, Jill Girard and Keith Smith, recognise all too well the ingredients of riveting children’s entertainment - an entrancing mix of magic and suspense, and loads of fun and laughs along the way.

Children will be thrilled as they follow the adventures - and misadventures - of Pinocchio, the little wooden puppet who, after a series of hair-raising life lessons, is rewarded by the Blue Fairy.

This timeless classic has been written especially for a child audience and enchants from the very onset ! Of course, what distinguishes children’s theatre from passive non inter-active entertainment is its exciting audience participation component. The audience not only watches the play, but plays an active part in the events as they unfold.

The directors of The People’s Theatre firmly believe that children’s theatre has a crucial role to play in young lives. Not only does it engender in impressionable hearts and minds a love of theatre which will enrich them their entire lives, but it’s also a wonderful opportunity to inculcate important values in children.

In a play such as Pinocchio, the moral lesson is clear: that we should lead lives of courage, honesty and love in order to become “real people”.
