(Community: Community Affairs) The Benoni City Times was launched in September 1921, making it one of the oldest titles in the Caxton Group stable. The newspaper was the flagship publication of the Amalgamated Press Group, a family owned business of City Times founder and editor, William Hills. Amalgamated Group was bought by Caxton in 1982. The Benoni City Times continues to deliver local news to the community of Benoni. The tabloid freesheet is distributed on Thursdays in Airfield, Alphen park, Boatlake Village, Brentwood Ext 1 and 3, Crystal Park, Farrarmere, Goedeburg, Kilnfenora, Lakeview, Linksview, MacKenzie Park, Morehill, Northmead Ext 4, Northvilla, Rynveld, Slaterville, The Stewards and Westdene. The weekly newspaper is published in both Afrikaans and English, and has a print run of 38 100 copies. The Benoni City Times is represented by the Newspaper Advertising Bureau (NAB).
