immedia head of development Kishyr Ramdial reveals; “One of the biggest features of the new DStv Guide iPad app is that it's not a South African-focused app – it’s an African app. Any user in Africa will be able to download the app and see the programming, news, highlights, etc. relative to their country.

Ramdial says that what made working with a partner like DStv on this particular project so exciting, was access to a vast array of quality content which made for “an exciting coding affair”. This has also resulted in a rich and multilayered user experience.

In terms of functionality, Ramdial says; “We wanted to start with a basic feature set – including highlights, features shows and grid-and-list-based TV schedules. This has been enhanced by a host of new aspects including:

• Grid and list views of the Guide for ten days
• Channel filtering according to country, genre, DStv bouquet or a selection of a user’s favourite channels.
• The ability for users to set reminders for shows and share what they watch on Facebook.
• Daily highlights and access to additional up-to-the-minute entertainment news from DStv.com.

All these features have been designed to make planning of one’s DStv viewing schedule a simple but always entertaining experience.

Looking ahead Ramdial says; “The plan is to progress with more functionality and features as we learn how our uniquely African audience uses this app”. But for now, its ease of use and personalisation are sure to make the new DStv Guide iPad app a must have for local connoisseurs of quality content”.
