A six-year-old cancer patient’s dream came true when Menlyn Park Shopping Centre assisted Reach for a Dream in raising the necessary funds to make it a reality.
Peter Nkosi, from Mpumalanga, suffers from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He undergoes chemo treatment in Pretoria and as an outpatient, spends the better part of 17 hours commuting to and from treatments. His dream was to have his very own PlayStation 2 console and games.
Leone White, PR manager for Menlyn Park Shopping Centre and Primedia Lifestyle representative says, “When Reach for a Dream approached us to help make Peter’s dream a reality we did not hesitate in getting involved. We would like to thank all our customers who supported the gift wrapping service prior to Christmas, enabling us to raise enough funds to purchase the gaming console for him.”
Primedia Lifestyle, part of the Unlimited group of companies, is responsible for the strategy, marketing, advertising and communications for the Menlyn Shopping Centre and roughly 50 others. The company takes its CSI initiatives very seriously and is pleased to be associated with Reach for a Dream.
Yolande le Grange from Reach for a Dream adds, “Peter was not feeling well from the chemo treatment when we gave him his present, but was extremely happy about receiving his dream PlayStation and thanked everyone involved. We wish Peter a speedy recovery and hope he has many hours of fun with his PlayStation. We’d also like to extend out thanks to Primedia Lifestyle and the team at Menlyn for making it happen.”
