Instead of working behind closed doors to create this design, Manentine’s Day has decided to work with South African based Springleap.com to open the design process up to their community of talented designers and illustrators. Through Springleap, Manentine’s Day will not only be able to give fans a chance to interpret the meaning of Manentine’s Day, but also give them a say in which designs they want to represent the holiday.

The contest will run from 13 February to 8 March with a prize pool of R18 500. Voting started on 20 February and help the expert design panel decide the first, second, and third place winners, which will be announced by 12 March. The t-shirt with the winning design will be available for purchase by this year’s Manentine’s Day in the Manentine’s Zazzle store.

Eran Eyal, CEO of Springleap.com states: “It’s great to really have fun with an old institution like Valentine’s Day and see something new and fun created out of it. I’m incredibly excited to see what the designers come up with. The brief is really fun – the community have always had a great way of surprising us with their amazing creativity in the past and I have a feeling that they’re going to knock our socks off with this one again.”
