Among the noteworthy events are releases of commemorative coins and stamps, museum openings, high profile auctions of memorabilia, movie premieres, dinners and concerts.

Sandton restaurant Le Canard will be presenting a dinner production themed on the last dinner served in the First Class Dining Salon. Joining forces with the production will be Radio Today 1485AM. James Kinloch, Radio Today station manager, has arranged for a special audio clip for the event, featuring a short calendar of events of 1912, and in particular, the Titanic disaster. This recording is made possible with the permission of the Springbok Radio Preservation Society, and will present some original recordings from the Edwardian era.

Chet Diepraam, Le Canard spokesperson, says: “We are thrilled to be joined by Radio Today on this once-in-a-lifetime event. The audio clip is presented by veteran Springbok Radio announcer, the late Percy Sieff, and it will be a great honour to introduce these names to our 'younger' guests on the night.”

After a bugler from the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra summons the guests into dinner, an elaborate meal of 10 courses based on the original menu salvaged from the wreck will be served. Musical entertainment for the evening is from JPO members Kevin Kraak on piano and Daline Wilson on violin. During the course of the dinner various iceberg warnings will be made, alerting 'passengers' to fun and interesting Titanic trivia.

Radio Today will be broadcasting special Titanic Centenary programmes on Sunday, 15 April. These special programmes come to listeners courtesy of Radio Today and the Springbok Radio Preservation Society. Radio Today broadcasts on 1485 AM in Johannesburg and nationally on DStv audio channel 169. Radio Today also streams on its website and on cell phones on 1485.mobi.
