Each week, a millionaire leaves their luxury lifestyle behind to live undercover for ten days in some of the most deprived parts of Britain. They must integrate into the community and work and volunteer with the locals in order to discover the people and projects they think would most benefit from their generosity. On the final day, their true identity is revealed and thousands of pounds of cash are handed out to deserving people.

This seventh series of the show features celebrity hairdresser Adee Phelan who returns to his Essex roots in a deprived community where thousands of residents rely on benefits. Also swapping their luxury lifestyle for the opposite end of society is Dr Chai Patel - the wealthy former owner of the world famous celebrity rehab centre, The Priory Clinic. Patel turned his back on the medical profession in favour of big business, but now goes undercover as a retired GP, which enables him to explore more fully the relationship between poor health and poverty.

The Secret Millionaire’s approach is sensitive and measured, revealing the emotional and positive impact of modern-day philanthropy, but also drawing attention to some of the social problems that face the world today.

It will be broadcast from Monday, 19 November at 21:00 on BBC Knowledge, channel 184 on DStv.
