The Star Readers’ Choice Competition asks readers of the influential daily to vote for the businesses they most admire and like across multiple categories.

The readers’ endorsement of SABC3 is one more success story for the channel, which currently is the most watched daytime channel amongst LSM 7-10 viewers.

Said Ed Worster, acting general manager of SABC3, “We are delighted to hear how well our content is being received across the country by SABC3’s loyal fans, and we will endeavour to remain firmly at the forefront of South African broadcasting in 2013.”

SABC3, popularly acclaimed as the home of South African television, has introduced a range of premium content with signature properties Isidingo, Top Billing, Days of Our Lives, Survivor and The Amazing Race continuing to dominate the channel’s Top Ten.

New content in 2012 has included the popular, ‘first to market’ international formats, The Voice and The Sing Off; dramas such as The Good Wife, Numbers and The Mentalist; retro dramas, notably McGyver and Mission Impossible; Blue Chip documentary in the form of National Geographic; and the ever popular Dr Oz.

There has been a growing emphasis on local content, with Isidingo, Top Billing, 3 Talk and Expresso being joined by the likes of Dr Mol, The Business Coach, Life with Thami, People of the South, new local sitcom Those Who Can’t, and the popular I Am Woman. The acclaimed local series, Shoreline, has returned for a second journey around the South African coast and The Ultimate Braaimaster has outclassed MasterChef as the premium local cooking format.

Added Risuna Mayimele, SABC3 marketing manager, “We would like to thank our viewers for the vote of confidence in us. We try to always listen to their needs and pride ourselves on providing content that is relevant to our audience.”
