Accompanied on piano by Eugene Joubert, world-renowned soprano Hanli Stapela and acclaimed South African tenor Stéfan Louw will be performing both opera favourites and lesser-known arias and duets by composers such as Verdi, Massenet and Bizet.

Veteran radio man and opera connoisseur, André Liebenberg, will be enticing the audience with interesting facts about opera in general as well as the artists and works to be performed on the night.

Tickets are available from Computicket at R120 (adults), R90 (pensioners and students) and R50 (children under 14).

This is the first in a series of six opera concerts to be held at the Joburg Promusica Theatre during 2013. Dates and artists for the remainder of the year’s concerts are – Friday, 19 April (with the Pro Cantare Choir); Friday, 7 June (with baritone Danie Verster and the Pro Cantare Opera Choir); Friday, 26 July (with mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Lombard); Friday, 4 October (with baritone Thabang Senekal); and Friday, 6 December (with soprano Hanli Stapela).
