Tony Cox is making a rare appearance in Johannesburg on Sunday, 27 January. Blessed with a distinctive style and an enviable array of guitar skills, this multiple award-winning guitarist is known in and out the country for his six-string prowess.

Cox delivers up a mix of his laconic humour with a fair dose of story-telling; taking any listener on an aural journey that is at once new, jaw-dropping and simply unforgettable. Cox's shows often reduce his audience to fits of laughter and then gasps of amazement at what comes out of his guitar.

Tickets to the performance cost R100. Dinner is served from 18:30 and the performance begins at 20:30. Dinner will be billed separately and the performance is not an option without a meal. A deposit is required to confirm a booking.

On Sunday, 3 February, Derek Gripper will be at Lucky Bean Restaurant again the launch of his CD One Night On Earth at Lucky Bean last year July. From the moment he picked up his guitar to when he rose to take a bow, there was a deep silence punctuated by explosive applause and gasps of wonder.

Gripper will be performing material from his internationally acclaimed CD as well as more Kora music that he has transcribed.

For over ten years, guitaristGripper has produced a host of visionary musical works by fusing Africa's disparate creative traditions with styles throughout the world, creating a classical guitar music that is uniquely his own.

His most recent work, One Night On Earth, transcriptions and performances of the Kora music of African musicians like Malian virtuosos Toumani Diabate, Ballake Sissoko, and Ali Farka Toure, has created an entirely new repertoire for the African Guitar, as well as creating the first ever classical guitar repertoire from the rich and diverse West African musical tradition.
