One Lady and A Tribe were approached in July 2013 by Mike Yelseth, the Director of Photography and Odette Schwegler, the film director/producer to put a strategy/approach together to sell the film rights for a feature film. Not a traditional request for an ad agency but one that Sheila McGillivray, the MD, took up and succeeded in accomplishing some two months later.

This was the beginning of a life changing journey to Edinburgh with the team.

Van der Westhuizen had been invited as the guest of honour at the SA/Scotland match on Sunday, 17 November at Murrayfield, accompanied by the film crew – the team attended
press conferences at the Centre for Exercise at Edinburgh University, a benefit lunch at Prestonfield House Hotel for the Bill McLaren Foundation, an introduction to the team and a tour of the Euan McDonald Faculty for MND research at Edinburgh University.

Upon leaving Edinburgh the team challenged McGillivray to start a campaign to raise funds to build a MND centre in South Africa. In Braveheart fashion – McGillivray who was born in Scotland – accepted the challenge and in the mantra of William Wallace who said ‘Your heart is free… have the courage to follow it’, starting with press conferences in August and September which are the beginning of the appeal for funding.

One Lady and A Tribe have a passion for cause marketing: doing good business and are honoured to be working with Van der Westhuizen and the greater team to achieve the dream of
having a South African Neurodegeneration centre.
