Head of Group Corporate Affairs at Hollard Insurance and also cancer survivor, Gail Walters, affirmed Hollard’s involvement with CANSA and their unwavering dedication towards the fight against cancer and the positive contribution they want to make.

Cancer survivors shared their stories, like professional swimmer Shaun Harris. He has beaten cancer and has now set his sights on winning a gold medal at the 2016 Olympics. Harris is training to represent South Africa in the 50m freestyle sprint at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

CANSA currently supports more than 31 research projects and spends an approximate amount of R5-million on research every year. CANSA hosts a number of Health Awareness campaigns to educate more people on cancer. Their support function offers support to approximartely 14 000 cancer patients and their families in over 500 communities with the help of 6000 volunteers. CANSA’s more than 30 CANSA Care Centres address the needs of cancer survivors and their families. These are only a few of the areas where contributions help the fight against cancer.

Elize Joubert, chief executive officer CANSA (Acting), addressed the guests and thanked CANSA’s sponsors for their support throughout the years.

Newsclip Media Monitoring, among others, was thanked for the pro-bono services they render for CANSA, which assists them to keep their eye on all their media activity.

To conclude, CANSA’s purpose is to lead the fight against cancer in South Africa. It’s mission is to be the preferred non-profit organisation that enables research, educates the public and provides support to all people affected by cancer.
