Having made a name for himself at Google, most recently as Google for Work Regional Manager Sub Saharan Africa, StClair says joining M4JAM was a simple choice: “M4JAM is the first local startup I have seen that ticks all the boxes: they have a sticky product that has already hit tipping point and they have built a model that can scale globally, leveraging cloud computing as well as having built repeatable business processes right the way from sales through to support. More importantly they are changing the market by providing micro jobs to people in an emerging market. That gets me really excited.”

Co-founder and chief jammer of M4JAM, Andre Hugo, is equally excited to have StClair onboard. “Brett’s vast digital, mobile experience and business network will compliment the strong team of 12 people that are already on board and his experience will be key as we add more layers onto the foundations that we have created over the past six months. Our sole focus for the first part of 2015 is to bring more brands and jobbers onto the platform and then to scale globally.”

M4JAM welcomes StClair at the same time as welcoming several new and returning brands to the microjobbing platform. February also saw the launch of M4JAM’s unique E(arn) button, which brands can place on their digital properties to direct potential jobbers to a mobisite where they can find brand related jobs. The M4JAM Social Share feature will be launched soon, allowing jobbers to make a few extra Rands on each job by spreading the news that they have earned money on M4JAM. These features all compliment the new improved Real Time Experience Monitoring dashboard that M4JAM makes available to their clients.

StClair is eager to be part of this growth and innovation. He brings with him learnings from AdMob as well as Google about how to build global businesses and make them locally relevant. He has gained valuable insights by being part of a global business with a focus on changing education, helping SMEs and providing global connectivity and plans to lever these learnings and this way of thinking in his new role at M4JAM.

“I am a passionate African and South African and I enjoy being part of local innovation,” says StClair. “To be part of a business that is dynamically using mobile to gather real time data so that it can change the world one microjob at a time is very exciting. To work with a South African business that leverages its disruptive platform to make the country a better place is the cherry on top.”
