Just when you thought it was safe to continue your dysfunctional relationship with money, all hell broke loose across South Africa: money itself makes the first move and asks South Africans to accept its apology and rekindle their relationships with the help of 22seven.

According to 22seven founder and CEO Christo Davel, "Most people have a highly dysfunctional relationship with money. They don’t consciously think about how they use it. Money wields huge power over our lives but yet we’ve never really tried to get to know it. So we’re flattered that money has taken the initiative to make things better, with the help of skywriting, open letters to politicians and John Lennon."

On the dawn of Thursday, 26 February, the people of Johannesburg awoke to a giant 'sorry' blazed across the skyline; money’s idea of a bunch of flowers. This will be was then spread further across social media via key blogs and influencers. Money wants to start over so badly that it has even got John Lennon on side, dedicating the classic iconic track (Just Like) Starting Over to all South Africans.

The day after the South African minister of finance presented the budget speech, money wrote an open, yet deeply personal letter to Nhlanhla Nene in the press. And from today, Money will be reaching out of TV screens, laptops and mobile phones asking every person to #startover.

As Davel explains, "22seven wants every South African, to get to know their money better. To be able to see it all in one place. To see what it’s worth. To see where it really goes every month. All with a click of a finger."

Why is 22seven helping to fix our relationship with money? They believe it’s time everyone takes back the control their relationship with money. Make things a lot simpler. To see it all in one place, how one spends it, how one can save it, and most importantly how one can grow it.
