Fancourt and Nedbank Private Wealth recently joined forces to present the Nedbank Private Wealth Golf Tournament as a fundraising endeavour for Emmäus, an established workshop and care centre for disabled adults located in George in the Western Cape.

The global Emmäus philosophy is aimed at creating income-generating activities at local level with people who have experienced social exclusion, demonstrating that there are credible alternatives to these challenges through collective action.

Richard Muholland of Nedbank Private Wealth Coastal concluded the tournament with a prize draw rounding off the fun at the 19th hole in the newly refurbished Hotel Club Lounge. The four prize draw winners - Garth le Roux, Mike Wameke, Frank Venter, and Glanville Retief each won a ticket to the 2015 Masters Golf Tournament in the USA, which was handed over by Elsabé Badenhorst, director of Emmäus.

These once in a lifetime tickets sponsored by Nedbank Private Wealth, are valued at R80 000 each and entitle the winners to three days’ VIP access to the Masters, four days of golf under the guidance of a South African Pro golfer, all accommodation and meals. The 2015 Masters takes place at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia from Thursday, 9 to Sunday, 12 April, and is one of the world’s four major PGA championships in professional men’s golf. Past winners include Tiger Woods, Bubba Watson and South Africa’s own Gary Player and Trevor Immelman.

Fancourt is consistent in its endeavour to acknowledge and uplift the local community by pledging support through various donations, sponsorships and fund raising initiatives.  It has set a new Corporate Social Responsibility benchmark for the tourism sector within the Garden Route, which began 21 years ago with the Plattner’s inception of Fancourt in April 1994 through their ‘think local, act global’ approach.
