The cheque was handed over at the Durbanville Rugby Club on Human Rights Day.

Says Mauritz Robertson, digital and marketing manager of MSP: "We‘re extremely proud of our collaboration with the Masibambane Sport Foundation to assist with vital community based projects and create a platform for sports development in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. Together with our sponsors and participants, we managed to raise almost R200 000 at our annual charity golf day in November last year."

"MSP has always been community driven, in line with our corporate vision of creating opportunities, building new realities. We’ve contributed to various worthy causes over the years and hope to do so for many years to come," says Robertson.

Bobby Joubert, director of Masibambane Sport Foundation, adds: "We’re delighted with MSP’s generous donation. We aim to uplift and empower children from disadvantaged communities as most of our children are victims of social problems such as drug and alcohol abuse. We hope to provide a better future for these youngsters and to help bring a positive change in our communities. The donation will be used for transport, food and the development of our young players for competition."

Previous successful campaigns of MSP include Little Stars, an early childhood centre accommodating 60 children and four teachers in Mfuleni in 2013; upgrades to Nonceba Mental Health Care Centre, one of the only day-care facilities for mentally impaired adults in Khayelitsha in 2012; Mama Amelia Poswa’s Sakhumzi Centre in Mfuleni which is home to 70 kids of all ages and provides day-care and early education for about 150 children in 2011; and Lydia House, a haven for abandoned, abused and homeless children of Nomzamo, Somerset West in 2010.

Robertson concludes: "Since 2005, MSP has raised more than R3-million for worthy causes. Other community projects that benefitted include the Durbanville Rugby Club, Dyer Island Conservation Trust, Khayelitsha Rape Crisis Centre, and more. We’d like to thank Pennypinchers, our main sponsor at the Play to Give Golf Challenge, as well as all other sponsors and participants for their generous support and look forward to hosting the event again later this year."
