South Africa’s only international design fair takes place from Thursday, 6 to Monday, 10 August 2015, alongside Decorex Joburg and in Hall 1 at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.

The headline sponsor of this year’s 100% Design South Africa is the Dauphin Human-Design Group. Their innovative new approach to design – Solutions by Dauphin – delivers designs and concepts that take into account the needs of the individual using and interacting with their products, will be showcased at the 100% Office at this year’s exhibition.

"Solutions by Dauphin is about having no fixed rules in how you design your space. It is about designing for the individual but also about providing ‘solutions’ for all spaces from corporate office, to hospitality, to home," says Nasheeta Jardine, managing director of Dauphin South Africa.

Dauphin’s latest designs, first revealed at Orgatec in Germany in October last year, will be showcased to the South African design community for the first time at 100% Design South Africa.

"Dauphin’s new way of thinking has been a natural evolution for the company. The Solutions concept is about catering to the individual’s needs and designing for the individual but also about providing ‘solutions’ for all spaces from corporate office, to hospitality to home," Jardine continues.

"The 21st century working environment requires flexibility and demands efficiency. New office concepts are propagated and rejected again – so designs need to be nimble enough to deal with change. We also need to be human in our approach: People in offices need to feel appreciated and to feel that their workspace helps them to be organised, efficient and successful. Dauphin’s new Solutions concept delivers that," she adds.

Laurence Brick, creative director of 100% Design South Africa, said he looked forward to working with the Dauphin team in creating a concept workspace at 100% Design South Africa that would change the way most people think about their work spaces.

"Work spaces are not what they used to be. In the year 2015, people simply don’t want to work in a space that feels nothing like home or their favourite restaurant; they also want to see themselves in their workspace. We’re working on a design for 100% Design South Africa that will demonstrate just how innovative Dauphin has become in creating the modern workspace," he said.

Cathy O’Clery, programmes director of 100% Design South Africa, said her team was delighted that Dauphin had elected to come on board again as a sponsor of the exhibition – demonstrating that last year’s launch exhibition had been a successful platform on which to introduce their products to the local design community.

"100% Design South Africa is an essential forward thinking, product and design platform – a must-see for anyone wanting to see what’s happening in design here and abroad under one roof," she added.

"As all our diaries face increasing pressure, both our exhibitors and visitors are saying how grateful they are for this opportunity to see the latest in contemporary design in one showcase of the best of local and international design," says O'Clery.

Another contemporary South African brand joining the 100% Design South Africa team this year is BOS Ice Tea. Monique Henderson, BOS brand manager, said BOS is excited to be part of such an incredible event. BOS is renowned for creating platforms for creative expression and will launch a new platform, focused on furniture design, at the event. BOS has partnered with the University of Johannesburg, sponsoring an Industrial Design competition to create designer environmentally friendly themed seating for the BOS brand. The BOS creatives are designing a hip, vibrant and interactive café, which will showcase the top 10 prototype seats from the competition.

After a hugely successful 2014 campaign, BOS will also launch their annual Design-a-can competition at 100% Design South Africa. For those who love to design, a BOS tuk-tuk will become a mobile design hub for aspiring designers to design artwork for a BOS can on iPads provided.

The BOS café will be a destination for creative expression – showcasing and inviting young designers to become part of the action.

"We can’t wait to see what the BOS team come up with," said O’Clery. "BOS is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s most innovative brands and we know this is going to be a showstopper."

100% Design South Africa's media partner for the second year running is the Home Channel, promising unparalleled support for the design industry in bringing all the excitement and innovation at the exhibition into television viewers’ homes in form of several news clips and industry round-ups.

Michael Porters of the Home Channel said it was a privilege for the, to be working with the 100% Design South Africa team again this year.

"Who would have believed that South Africa would host a truly international design fair and we are delighted to be able to beam all the news from this prestigious event, into homes around the African continent," Porters adds.
