This reality show makes high drama out of the minor meltdowns in the kitchen, iced with a spoonful of histrionics from owner Christine and chocolatier Dave. This series, Christine and her camera-shy partner (another Christine) don aprons for the first time in decades, jetting out to New York to bake an edible Statue of Liberty for Whoopi Goldberg. In the kitchen tempers fray, while Dave wrestles with American chocolate.
Later, the Queen of Confectionery Christine has a royal plan to bring the punters to her new London cake shop. She’s planning a Diamond Jubilee street party in Carnaby Street, and only the most extravagant chocolate creations will do. Corgis, bulldogs and bunting adorn the two seven-tier cakes, but these cheerful centrepieces are only half the battle.
