The 1 Ton Coupon, literally weighing one ton, was placed outside Builders Warehouse in Cape Town’s Northgate Estate – one of the country’s biggest DIY stores – on the last Saturday of March 2015. Amarok owners were encouraged via social media to come and collect it to win a free tow bar worth R4800.

Robert Howarth was the first to arrive and, once the heavyweight coupon was loaded onto his Volkswagen bakkie, he easily made the 5.8km journey to Barons Culemborg to exchange the coupon for a free tow bar.

O&M’s executive creative director, Chris Gotz, said “This incredibly literal execution was a great way to demonstrate the sheer power of the Amarok and to get plenty of social media buzz going. It was also fun to create what we think is some kind of world record in the process.”
