IPRA have served individual public relations practitioners with members in more than eighty countries for the last sixty years. The IPRA 2015 World Congress will be hosted in South Africa for the first time. This event will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre from the Sunday, 27 to Tuesday, 29 September. Held every three years the congress welcomes 600  to 800 global delegates from the media, agencies, corporates and academic communities.

Johanna McDowell, IPRA Congress chairperson and past president in 2012, announced that the Public Relations Institute of South Africa (PRISA) will be the official partner at the congress; themed ‘Leadership in Communications - the way to Trust’.

In 2015, delegates can look forward to keynote speeches from Jaha Dukureh from change.org, Jose Torres from Bloom Consulting, Rod Cartwright from Ketchum, Elena Fadeeva from Fleishmanhillard Vanguard and CNN Best African Journalist award winner Msindisi Fengu, among many others.

Congress attendees will also be able to sit in on panel discussion and debates.

The IPRA Golden World Awards for Excellence, will also form part of the three-day event. The Awards received 450 entries in 2015 and McDowell says is regarded as “the Oscars of the PR world”; honouring the very best PR campaigns around the world. This is the first time the awards ceremony will be held in South Africa.
