Portfolio Night, which brings together thousands of young creatives, hundreds of creative directors, and dozens of host agencies in cities from around the world, sees young creatives pitch their portfolios to creative directors from leading ad agencies.

This is the second year running that a student from Red & Yellow has been selected as the All Star at the Cape Town Portfolio Night - last year, it was Mogotsi-Phetlhe’s fellow student, Grethe Meissner.

Mogotsi-Phetlhe's prize is a trip to a global All Stars event in New York, where she'll join a team of All Stars from around the world to work on a global brand campaign. Mogotsi-Phetlhe will also have an opportunity to meet some of the world’s top advertising executives.

Mogotsi-Phetlhe was one of around 40 advertising and design students from various schools at Portfolio Night Cape Town, organised by McCann on behalf of the Art Directors Club. In attendance were creative directors from Jupiter, FoxP2, 140BBDO, Graphitas, The Greenhouse, Gloo, King James, Ogilvy, and Y&R.

The students each had a 15-minute speed date with three creative directors on the night. They were scored on ideas, crafting, attitude, and more. The Art Directors Club pays for the All Stars from all cities to gather for a week in New York. Mogotsi-Phetlhe , who graduated last year from the Art Direction and Graphic Design Course at Red & Yellow, says: "I’m looking forward to representing our country in New York City. What a journey - I wouldn’t change it for the world. Every person I have come into contact with at Red & Yellow has influenced my growth as a person."

"She has an awesome work ethic and will put in the extra energy and effort required to produce the best work possible," says Diane Charton, who lectures Mogotsi-Phetlhe in the MAC course.

"Testament to this was her being awarded the Hazel Pearson Heart & Soul Award 2014. This was due to her embodying the values of the school, maintaining a spirit of optimism and enthusiasm, and being an incredible ambassador. We’re proud of her and know she will achieve no matter which direction she heads in," says Charton.

Carmen Schaefer, Mogotsi-Phetlhe's Art Direction and Graphic Design lecturer, says: "Tshego not only has clever ideas, but also understands the strategy that underpins them. I always told her she will be CEO of a company one day, if not president. Winning this competition is a step in that direction."
