It all started with a field trip to the Grahamstown National Arts Festival in 2005, where she was selected to join a radio workshop. She went on to study Journalism at the University of Johannesburg, while working as a news reader at a local community radio station.

In 2008, she entered the Hot Jocks talent competition hosted by 947 and was offered an intern position in the newsroom. She later joined Radio 2000 and SAFM as a news reader, before becoming the overnight host on Kaya FM.

Sechaba G has spent the last two years immersing herself in the rich culture of Cape Town and the Western Cape. With her passion for broadcasting, it wasn’t long before her voice was heard on the Cape’s No.1 Hit Music Station in the early morning on weekdays and over weekends.

When she’s not in-studio, you’ll find her exploring the Mother City’s hidden gems with her husband and two-year-old son. High on her priority list is quality time with her family and inspiring young women to chase their dreams. She’s also a self-confessed foodie and attributes this to her husband who is the chef in the family.

KFM station manager, Colleen Louw says: “Sechaba is no stranger to KFM. Her passion for Cape Town and the Western Cape is magnetic and we’re excited about her move to the daytime line up.”

Catch Sechaba G on KFM, weekdays from Noon to 15:00.
