Also appearing at the country’s most popular food extravaganza is MasterChef Australia 2014 winner Brent Owens; MasterChef UK judge John Torode, author and cook Tom Parker Bowles and dessert king Adriano Zumbo.

Earlier this year it was announced that Mahammad will be joining the Giggling Gourmet in a new Food Network series Jenny & Reza’s Fabulous Food Academy, to be aired on the channel (DStv channel 175) later this year. Also featuring at this year’s Good Food & Wine Show is another Food Network star Siba Mtongana presenter of Siba’s Table and Siba’s Table Fast Feasts.

Friends from the moment they met, Morris and Mahammad will be combining their extraordinary knowledge and passion for food by teaching would be chefs to create a delicious feast, passing on tips and techniques along the way on how to cook like a professional.

Mahammad – whose Food Network shows have an enthusiastic following in South Africa and whose previous series African Kitchen showcased South Africa, Zanzibar and Namibia – says he likes exploring food in southern Africa and is delighted to be returning to Johannesburg to participate in the Good Food & Wine Show.

“The people are so friendly. You have rainbow cuisines and a diaspora of influences which are stimulating and inspiring,” says Mahammad.

When his father died, Mahammad took over the family business, managing The Star of India, one of London’s most successful and prestigious restaurants.

“I almost became involved in the food business by default because I was still in school. I was fond of music and arts and I never thought I was going to go into food. Although I loved food and liked cooking, I didn’t realise that it was going to become a career. What I love doing is travelling and learning more about a country, the history and the food and putting my slant on it.”

Other chefs appearing at the Good Food & Wine Show are MasterChef South Africa judge Benny Masekwameng; Coco Reinarhz now appearing on SABC’s Little Big Cook Off and health expert Lisa Raleigh in the new well.i.am. Kitchen Theatre
