This is the premise behind the South African Bloggers (often referred to as We Blog for Love) online portal.

When he started his blog in 2015, Sandile Nene, editor and founder of We Blog for Love, discovered that there was a vast variety of networks and support for bloggers. And yet he felt alone. Why?

“I wanted to learn more about blog trends and also make friends within the South African blogging community,” he says. But there was nothing on offer for him to do this. And so he created his own, uniquely South African network. And it is equally – if not more – as effective as other international products.

The We Blog for Love platform is a community focused on creating content, sharing ideas and reinforcing blogging as a powerful tool.

“We give bloggers and non-bloggers a platform to voice their opinions [and] share their life experiences to our large audience,” says Nene. “Our purpose is to stand for the blogging community in South Africa and support it in each and every way.”

Not only does the website offer networking opportunities, it is home to a plethora of resources, guidelines and advice on everything blog-related. We Blog for Love also gives South African bloggers invaluable exposure with their Blogger of the Week feature.

Since its launch in 2012, the South African Bloggers initiative has seen exponential growth. “We started off only focussing on blogging,” says Nene, “But now we are a full-on online publication.”
When asked about the future of the website, Nene explains his plans for the publication to be “South Africa’s first top for everything”. From parenting to grooming and social issues, South African Bloggers wants to do it all.

Rather than relying on an infinite international network of bloggers, Nene has created a community specifically for South Africans, by South Africans. And they blog for love.
