Writing by Omotoso and Robbie Thorpe took more than a year, raising the necessary capital took years, and after a month of intense rehearsals shooting finally commenced in May 2014 in Maboneng and Braamfontein.

Featuring stars Maps Maponyane, Nomzamo Mbatha and Kagiso Lediga, Tell Me Sweet Something tells the story of Moratiwa (Mbatha), an aspiring novelist with writer’s block, who hasn’t had much luck with love ever since her ex-boyfriend went out to buy milk and never came back. Until she meets “the 45 Foot Man”.

Tell Me Sweet Something
will be released across South Africa on Friday, 4 September. Omotoso hopes audiences will flock to see it and fall in love – with the film, with Jozi and, of course, with him.
