Now in its fifth year, 'Racing. It’s a Rush Celebrity Charity Dash', will see 20 celebrities taking to the track to raise money for SOS Children’s Villages South Africa. One of Gauteng SANSUI Summer Cup's favourite fixtures, this friendly philanthropic competition will donate R844 151.25, which is more than double the amount collected in 2014.

Taking the Johannesburg equestrian and fashion affair to new heights, the winning celebrity will not only take the credit of being the fastest on the track, but also the honour of handing over the cheque to SOS Children’s Villages South Africa.

Celebrities such as Jen Su, Stacey Holland, Clive Maistry, Jay Astey and Jonathan Boyton-Lee  join the likes of hip hop artist Solo, rugby athletes Robbie Coetzee and Courtnall Skosan among others, ensuring a bigger, bolder, and tougher dash than ever before.

“This is my first Celebrity Charity Dash campaign and I’m so honoured to be taking part,” former Miss South Africa Joan Madibeng says, adding; “SOS Children's Villages is an incredibly inspiring initiative that make a huge difference in the lives of disenfranchised children looking for a place called home. Like any other celebrity taking part in this race who has been directly or indirectly affected by this dilemma, getting involved and lending a hand in such an important initiative was a no-brainer.”

Commenting on their involvement in this year's celebrity dash challenge, Clyde Basel, Phumelela sales and marketing executive says; “We are pleased to enter into our seventh year of hosting an event of this stature in Johannesburg, which reflects the generous spirit of the Gauteng SANSUI Summer Cup and indeed all its partners and most importantly the joy of giving. As an organisation, community building and development is of high importance to us as we believe it's our responsibility to give our talents, time and treasure to serve others.”

Recognising the vital work that SOS Children's Villages do, Basel urges Gauteng horse racing enthusiasts to “put on their racing hats and make your way to Turffontein Racecourse...it’s time to help make a difference and recognise all the good work that SOS Children's Villages has been doing”.

Seithuto Seakgwa, the marketing and communications of SOS Children’s Villages South Africa, concludes: “On behalf of SOS Children’s Villages and the little ones we serve, a heartfelt thank you for your generous donation of R844 151.25. We want to thank you most sincerely for your thoughtful support. This years’ donation is going towards our mothers and youth care development. Thank you for believing in us and in what we do.”
