What initially seemed like a massive accident, turned out to be a stunt pulled off by the burger giant to promote its biggest 100% beef burger – the Big King XXL.

The truck, weighing more than six tonnes and standing 3.8 metres tall, is one of only two of its kind in South Africa. Just like at popular monster truck shows in the USA, the larger-than-life truck had locals amazed as it revved its 700 horsepower engine at a deafening sound of 150 decibels, crunching its way across the parking lot.

Rozanna Kader, marketing and communications director of Burger King South Africa, says; “We wanted to give our guests a little more than what they bargained for. This was a fun and exciting way to demonstrate how big our Big King XXL burger is. We felt a larger than life event was just the way to drive it home. The reactions today were fantastic; people were really caught off-guard and thrilled at what they experienced – a one-of-a-kind experience in South Africa.”

The Big King XXL is a real hunger crusher with an amazing five-inch diameter bun, 227g of freshly flame-grilled 100% pure beef, two cheddar cheese slices, fresh lettuce, sliced white onions and crunchy pickles, covered in a creamy sauce.

Burger King South Africa guests who purchase a Big King XXL burger or Big King XXL medium or large meal between Thursday, 19 May and Tuesday, 31 July to stand the chance of winning a trip for two to one of this year's upcoming Monster Jam events in the USA worth R100 000.
