When Cedric Samson ran his Treehouse Studio in Johannesburg it was not only known for literally being built into a tree but also because of some serious creativity which took place - including the recording of albums such as Hugh Masekela’s 'Notes of Life'; Ice Cube’s #1 Billboard hit 'Gangsta’s Make The World Go Round; and Miriam Makeba’s Grammy-nominated 'Homeland', for which Cedric himself arranged and produced.

A multi talented songwriter-arranger-producer-performer Cedric Samson has been a feature in South African music and one of the country’s most internationally acknowledged musicians & producers for over four decades.

After stints in the USA and back in Johannesburg, Cedric relocated to Cape Town in 2005 and has now re-opened The Treehouse Studios as a state-of-the-art recording facility in Hout Bay.

“The Tree House is perfectly poised to facilitate and grow the quality of sound production to a level that exceeds expectations - for both local and international clientele - while also developing a new Artist development branch,” says Cedric who is available as a producer although the Treehouse Studio can be booked independently.

Recently Cedric arranged and produced the new 'Top Billing' logo composition as well as jingles for a successful Vodacom advertising campaign in the DRC and a new tea brand while completing a film-score for 'Intonga', a Xhosa vernacular film out later this year.

He’s also working on a new album for his sons, the band Samson (12-year-old Joshua and 18-year-old Matt).

Debuting himself as a child performer in 'The King & I' at Johannesburg’s Empire Theatre, Cedric’s early career as a drummer tracked the chart success of the names who made it big on LM Radio and the-then Radio 5, from Rabbit to Ballyhoo.

1982 was also the year South Africa tuned into Cedric as presenter of 'Pop Shop', before he moved to the US where, in this period he wrote; arranged; and produced music for Coca Cola world-wide, co-wrote and co-produced the opening of 'The Lost City' with French musician/producer Jean Michel Jarre and then continued to move back and forth between South Africa and the USA.

Film score writing credits include an Emmy Nomination for the made-for-TV movie 'Mandela and De Klerk', an Academy Award nomination for the score of the documentary 'Nelson Mandela'; the film 'Drum'; and recently 'Intonga'.

Other credits have included the score, arrangement and production of the Laureus Sports Awards in Monte Carlo, working with Alicia Keyes and producing, amongst others, acclaimed singer Vicky Sampson’s 'License To Sing'.

In 2005 Cedric arranged, produced and co-composed a track for Procter & Gamble’s 'Always Girl' Campaign and also created the Spur people jingle.

Cedric’s larger-than-life persona and even bigger heart has rendered meaningful projects such as Aids Awareness and Fund-Raising Campaigns and, his personal favourite, as composer/musical director/conductor of a 78-strong cast in a stellar performance of his Grammy Nominated song 'Father of Our Nation' to former-president Nelson Mandela on Madiba’s 90th birthday last year.
