Following the massive success of its hit local reality-drama series, Cream Cartel, New Vision Pictures has been commissioned to produce two 30” TV spots for the 2010 MTN South African Music Awards (SAMAs) in the same edgy, street style.

Winning the pitch hands-down against one of South Africa’s largest production houses, New Vision Pictures’ trademark raw, unorthodox style was lauded by ad agency, MetropolitanRepublic, as the perfect fit for the SAMA campaign.

“We’re known for doing things differently and for really pushing the boundaries. We take a totally unconventional approach to filming and editing and I think that’s what really sets us apart as a production house,” explains Graeme Swanepoel, New Vision Pictures Film Director and Head of Creative.

New Vision Pictures recently completed the first SAMA spot which aired last week, and is gearing up to shoot the next one soon. The high-profile campaign comes just months after the company was commissioned by DStv’s Vuzu to produce a second, 13-episode season of the pop cult reality show, Cream Cartel. In the wake of Cream Cartel’s success, New Vision Pictures was again commissioned by Vuzu to overhaul and redesign the channel’s popular anti-dating show, Vixens. Both shows are currently in production, with the first episode of the sexy, new Vixens airing on 7 April.

New Vision Pictures, a division of New Vision Media, is a fully-fledged production company that offers a full turnkey service, from pre-production to the final product. It specialises in high-end visual effects; animation; editing; final mix; and scripting for the television and advertising industries.

Its core talent includes Hans Sedgwick, 3D animation expert and technical director, and Graeme Swanepoel, who both directs and edits. Sedgwick is known for his incredible character animation (which he honed at London’s City Scape) and technical abilities, while Swanepoel is renowned for his artistic vision and direction, which last year included a sizzling 2009 FHM Calendar Special – shot on location in the Reunion Islands.

MTN joins the company’s growing list of blue-chip clients, which include HBO; BBC; M-Net; Vuzu; Virgin; Pfizer; and Telkom. In addition, New Vision Pictures has produced a number of music videos, including those for Glen Lewis; Kelly Khumalo; and Euphonik.

New Vision Pictures’ incredible success has seen the company expand significantly. Today it boasts a hoard of editors, a dedicated 2/3D animation team and a group of in-house producers and production coordinators, as well as a complete sound studio for final mix. New Vision Pictures works closely with design and advertising consultancy, The Sovereign State, on developing and marketing its shows and projects.
