The bidorbuy Android application, developed in partnership with Prezence Digital, has an attractive interface and is simple to navigate, especially for anyone already familiar with the full bidorbuy website.

“We released this application to provide an interactive and convenient shopping experience for bidorbuy users with Android devices”, says bidorbuy CEO Jaco Jonker.

He points out that in the period of one year (November 2011 – November 2012), the number of people who visit bidorbuy via a cell phone, smartphone or a tablet has more than doubled, confirming that South Africans are quickly adapting to the mobile world.

Whether they use the Android app, iPhone app, or simply go to the bidorbuy mobi site, users have at their fingertips a fully optimised mobile shopping experience. Even without an account, visitors can browse and search through more than one million items, and view the bidorbuy Deal of the Week and other promotions. However, in order to place a bid or make a purchase, users need to log in, which they can also do from their mobile device.

“The way people shop is changing rapidly,” says Jonker. “Consumers have embraced mobile shopping because it is easier for them to compare prices and to buy, wherever they happen to be. That is why we have made the development of our mobile offerings a high priority.”

“Our mobi sites and iPhone and Android applications offer a fully-fledged online shopping experience”, adds Jonker. “The bidorbuy mobile offering opens up the site to people who may not have a computer with internet connection, but have an internet-enabled mobile device. It’s also great for bidorbuyers who want to check the site when they are away from their computer. We are confident that our latest mobile release will be especially well received now, with holiday shopping in full swing”.

Purchases on bidorbuy mobi platforms have more than doubled in the past year. When they shop via their mobile devices, bidorbuyers are most likely to buy products from these bidorbuy categories: computers, home and living, cell phones, jewellery and watches, and antiques and collectables.
