Titled Influencing The Influencer, this event will provide the Heavy Chef audience with a rare perspective on digital marketing – the ins and outs of influencer marketing and the role of the influencer.

Having worked on some of South Africa’s most ‘viral’ campaigns including Nando’s Last Dictator and Douwe Egberts Yawn Vending Machine, Sharman is well versed on the efficacy of influencer marketing. He is currently the owner of Retroviral – an online communications agency that specialises in the online word-of-mouth spread for brands using bespoke strategy, social media and web tactics. On Wednesday, 16 September, Sharman will share his insights on the 3 C’s of influencer marketing: Content, Community and Commerce.

Presenting on the other side of influencer marketing, Alex van Tonder will enlighten the audience on the role of the influencer and introduce her latest novel, This One Time. The novel focuses on the notion of responsible creativity and tells the story of a social media influencer who loses control of the power that this pervasive medium affords its users. For Van Tonder, today’s digital environment is a wild west. At Heavy Chef, she’ll talk about her experience as one of the country’s top 10 female bloggers and influencers.

This event will take place on Wednesday, 16 September 2015 at 18:00 for 18:30 at the World Wide Creative studio in Cape Town. Seats go quickly so be sure to secure yours here.

About Heavy Chef

As an initiative of digital marketing agency World Wide Creative, the Heavy Chef project is a platform for practical learning – where South Africa’s digital community collaborates, shares ideas and discusses the latest web marketing news. The name comes from the expression ‘Never trust a skinny chef’ and the aim is to learn from Heavy Chefs - in other words, those rare folk who eat their own food, walk the talk and practice what they preach.

Heavy Chef is sponsored by: World Wide Creative, Microsoft SA, Backsberg Wines, Channel Mobile and Uber.
